What We Do

Our Programs

A structured scholarship and skills-acceleration model built for measurable, generational impact.

Our Approach

We partner. We sponsor. We empower.

ACHONU Foundation does not build schools. We identify and partner with reputable, established primary and secondary institutions already serving underserved communities — then we sponsor high-potential girls to attend them.

This model is deliberately lean and high-leverage: rather than spending resources on infrastructure, every dollar goes directly toward a girl's tuition, school supplies, exam fees, uniforms, and a small health fund. The institutions exist. The girls exist. What's missing is the bridge — and that's what we build.

"Quality over quantity."

Every student in our program receives full wraparound support across education, digital skills, health, and mentorship — not a partial scholarship, but a complete pathway.

  • Full wraparound academic, digital, health & mentorship support
  • Partnership with vetted local institutions — not school construction
  • Structured accountability agreements with families and scholars
  • Outcomes tracked through financial independence, not just graduation
The Four Pillars

A complete pathway, not a partial fix.

01

Education Access Sponsorship

Every girl deserves a seat in the classroom.

What it includes
  • Tuition, school supplies, exam fees, uniforms, and a small health fund
  • Academic performance monitoring
  • Structured accountability agreements with families
How it works

We partner directly with established local primary and secondary schools — not by building new infrastructure, but by funding access. Each sponsorship comes with a structured accountability agreement signed by the student, family, and school.

1,000
Our goal: 1,000 girls sponsored over 10 years
02

Financial & Digital Empowerment

The future is digital. Our girls will lead it.

What it includes
  • Digital literacy and basic computer competency
  • AI exposure and emerging technology awareness
  • Entrepreneurship education and business basics
  • Vocational skill pathways (tailoring, beauty services, trades)
  • Small business development support and seed mentorship
How it works

Delivered through structured after-school programming and partnerships with digital training hubs. Curriculum is adapted to local context while maintaining globally competitive standards.

65%
Our goal: 65% of graduates start a business or income-generating venture
03

Reproductive & Health Education

Knowledge protects. Awareness transforms.

What it includes
  • Comprehensive reproductive health awareness
  • Early marriage prevention and rights education
  • Bodily autonomy and informed decision-making
  • Mental health literacy and emotional wellbeing
  • Peer-led wellness conversations and community support
How it works

Programming is delivered with cultural sensitivity and community partnership. We work alongside trusted local health educators and women-led organizations to ensure relevance and trust.

80%+
Our goal: 80%+ of sponsored girls avoid early child marriage
04

Leadership & Mentorship

She needs a mirror — someone who looks like her and leads.

What it includes
  • Diaspora mentorship connections with African women globally
  • Public speaking, confidence, and leadership development
  • Career pathway guidance and goal setting
  • Professional network access and internship pipelines
How it works

Our diaspora network connects scholars with accomplished African women across industries — finance, medicine, technology, policy, and entrepreneurship. Mentors commit to structured, ongoing engagement, not one-off conversations.

Our goal
An alumni network across African communities
The Model

Educate One. Empower Many.

True transformation occurs when she becomes financially independent, mentors others, and contributes to systemic change within her community.

One educated girl does not remain one — she becomes many.
1

Sponsor 1 Girl

A high-potential girl is identified, selected, and fully sponsored through her education pathway.

2

Financial Independence

She completes education, gains digital and business skills, and achieves economic self-sufficiency.

3

Mentor the Next

As an alumna, she mentors, employs, or sponsors the next generation of girls.

∞

Multiplier Effect

The cycle compounds — one investment becomes an ever-expanding network of empowered women.

Common Questions

Program FAQ

Girls are identified through referrals from schools, community partners, and trusted local contacts, then selected through a merit-based review of academic potential and household need. Selected families and their partner school sign a Sponsorship & Accountability Agreement before enrollment.

Learn more about our model

No. We partner with existing, vetted private schools already serving underserved communities and fund a girl's full sponsorship there — tuition, school supplies, exam fees, uniforms, and a small health fund — rather than spending resources on new infrastructure.

See our partners

ACHONU Foundation currently operates in Nigeria, where our founding cohort is enrolled with a partner school in Lagos. As funding and documented outcomes grow, we plan to expand to additional underserved communities across West Africa.

View our impact and roadmap

Every sponsored girl is covered by an accountability agreement with her family and school. We receive regular academic reports, conduct periodic check-ins, and step in early when a girl is at risk of falling behind — measured against long-term financial independence, not grades alone.

How we measure outcomes

You can give one-time or monthly through our donation page, or reach out about partnering with us as a larger giving partner or mentor. Every gift goes toward tuition, school supplies, exam fees, uniforms, and a small health fund.
